WOMEN IN ROOFING
More than ever, women are becoming a part of the roofing industry. Pierce County Roofers is excited about being a part of educating, mentoring, and supporting the next generation of professional female roofers.
Learn more about National Women in Roofing (NWIR), a volunteer-based organization that supports and advances the careers of women roofing professionals. They provide networking, mentoring, education and recruitment opportunities from the rooftop to the boardroom, for the young professional at the start of her career to the seasoned manager in the executive suite.
They help drive the overall betterment and professionalism of the roofing industry, and to bring the industry to a new level of excellence by supporting and promoting the contributions of women as an essential component to the future of roofing.
Meet Some of our Women in Roofing!
Congratulations to one of our 2026 graduates, Rosalie Binford. Rosalie is also our Apprentice of the Year for 2025-26.
When Rosalie chose roofing, she wanted more than a job. She wanted a career that would support her long-term goals. Working for Krueger Sheet Metal while completing the Pierce County Roofers Apprenticeship Program, she gained the training, skills and experience to make that happen. Today she is a journeywoman and a member of Roofers Local 153.
As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated trade, Rosalie has faced her share of doubt. She meets it head-on.
“I know I am not the strongest nor tallest, but I have the same work ethic and skills,” she said. “I overcome these barriers by continuing to show up and proving with action why I am there.”
Her long-term goal is to open her own roofing business.
Congratulations to one of our 2024 graduates, Sadie Vanschouwen. Sadie is a well-rounded journey-level worker. As one of the few women in our program, she faced unique challenges but always stuck with it. During her employer evaluations, she was often praised for her attention to detail and hard work. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments.
